| Game Notes | Burtonwood put up a tremendous performance today ultimately going down to a big physical Leigh team.Burtonwood took the game to Leigh from the start trying to make up for the heavy defeat when the teams last met with the score that time being 28 - o. Pringle kicked an early penalty and for most of the first half the teams where evenly matched with good defence from the home team halting the Leigh forward drives.
In the second half Leigh started to build some momentum ,but Wood stuck at it and Ogrady scored in the corner with Pringle converting .
With time running out the pace of the game seemed to intesify and a good kick and chase enabled Speakamn to score and convereted by Rafferty. THe last few minutes saw both teams push to kill off the game but with the final whistle being blown it was Leigh who held there nerve to win a very tough, hard fought game of Rugby.
Well done to the lads for a fine team effort and we saw plenty of commitment and endeavour. |
